The United States women’s national team began its first training camp of 2019 in Portugal on Monday, and the number of players in camp grew by one.

Head coach Jill Ellis made a late addition to the camp roster, bringing in Andi Sullivan, a midfielder for the NWSL’s Washington Spirit.

With the addition of Sullivan, the women’s national team now has 27 players in camp preparing for friendlies later this month against France and Spain on Jan. 19 and 22, respectively. Sullivan joins fellow Spirit players Rose Lavelle and Mallory Pugh in camp.

Sullivan, 23, has 11 caps with the senior national team and featured many times for the U.S. youth teams too, helping them win Concacaf titles for U-17 in 2012 and U-20 in 2014.

She played her college soccer at Stanford where she was Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2014. In 2017, she won the Hermann Trophy while leading the Cardinal to a College Cup championship.

Sullivan was selected No. 1 overall in the 2018 NWSL draft. She played in 22 games as a rookie and was a finalist for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
