Major League Soccer has nine representatives on the latest United States men’s national team roster, released Monday afternoon ahead of friendlies against Colombia and Peru in Tampa, Fla., Oct. 11 and East Hartford, Conn., Oct. 16, respectively.
However, the biggest inclusion on the 23-man list is that of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic, who missed a 2-0 loss to Brazil Sept. 7 and a 1-0 win over Mexico Sept. 11 due to a minor injury.
Defenders Ben Sweat and Reggie Cannon of New York City FC and FC Dallas, respectively, received their first USMNT call-ups for these games.
Schalke 04 midfielder Weston McKennie will make his first international appearance since an impressive debut in Champions League, in which he assisted on Breel Embolo’s goal in a 1-1 tie against FC Porto.
Overall, the USMNT roster is composed of a slew of young players based in Europe who have had impressive moments through the summer in limited appearances for the U.S.
