The Utah Royals rolled to a 3-1 win over Sky Blue FC Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Newly acquired Royal Christen Press scored her first Utah goal and Sky Blue extended the longest winless streak in NWSL history to 13 games.
Utah (5-3-6, 21 points) sits in fourth place in the NWSL table, while Sky Blue (0-10-3, three points) is firmly in last place.
The Royals pounced early, setting the tone for the match.
Katrina Gorry sent a cross into the box and Press redirected the ball to the back of the net in the seventh minute.
Katie Stengel then scored two goals in four minutes to give Utah a commanding lead.
Press set up the first goal, pushing the ball down the middle and catching Stengel in stride streaking up the middle. Stengel beat Sky Blue goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan and gave the Royals a 2-0 advantage in the 25th minute.
Soon afterward, Sky Blue star Carli Lloyd fouled Gunnhildur Jónsdóttir to trigger a free kick about 30 yards away from goal. Stengel headed in the free kick from Gorry, giving Utah a 3-0 lead in the 28th minute.
Lloyd scored for Sky Blue in the second half, gathering a rebound and hitting an arching shot to the left side of the net in the 62nd minute.
Sky Blue nearly added another goal, with Lloyd assisting Savannah McCaskill, but McCaskill was ruled offside.
