Sky Blue FC has signed goalkeeper Megan Hinz to its supplemental roster, the club announced Tuesday. She takes one the four supplemental roster spots allocated to each National Women’s Soccer League team for the 2019 season.
Hinz graduated from the University of Michigan in 2017. She was previously with the Chicago Red Stars earlier this season as a National Team replacement player during the FIFA Women’s World Cup. She did not play during her five-match stint with the club, but was available off the bench.
At Sky Blue, Hinz will back up Kailen Sheridan, who is second in the league in saves, and DiDi Haracic, who filled in for Sheridan while she was at the World Cup with Canada.
Hinz replaces goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese, who joined Sky Blue at the start of the season as a supplemental player. Marckese has opted to pursue an overseas opportunity and was released from her contract, according to the club.
Sky Blue sit eighth in the NWSL table. They next face the Houston Dash Saturday.
