Sky Blue FC hired Morgan Hofacker and Christopher Ascari to the club’s technical staff Wednesday. Hofacker will serve as the club’s high performance coach and Ascari will be the strength and conditioning coach.
Hofacker was previously a coach at Perseverance Strength and Conditioning, a company based in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She is a graduate student in Rutgers University’s Kinesiology and Applied Physiology program, and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in kinesiology and exercise science from Rutgers and food and nutrition from the University of Alabama. She also previously served as a graduate student researcher at Rutgers, focused on fitness testing for the Rutgers’ athletes, and as director of operations for the university’s women’s swimming and diving teams.
Ascari has 26 years of experience in fitness and strength training. He is the owner of CrossFit Versus, a gym in Little Silver, N.J., and has experience in coaching professional and semi-professional athletes, in addition to military personnel and members of law enforcement. He was part of the fitness department at Brookdale Community College and was a post-rehab specialist at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Before that, he was a professional fighter trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Filipino Martial Arts and competitive Muay Thai.
The two new coaches join Sky Blue FC head coach Denise Reddy, who is in her second year with the club.
Last month, Sky Blue announced the additions of assistant coaches, Alex Mendolia and Christiane Lessa, and goalkeeper coach Hugo Macedo.
