Sky Blue FC will play its home finale against the Orlando Pride at Red Bull Arena, the club announced Monday.
The move comes after Sky Blue general manager Alyse LaHue revealed Sunday the club had already sold out its typical home venue, 5,000-seat Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Tickets for the National Women’s Soccer League match will now go back on sale Tuesday.
The game also has a new kickoff time of 11 a.m. ET, two hours earlier than originally schedule in order to accommodate the New York Red Bulls, who host D.C. United in Major League Soccer action at 5 p.m. ET. Though the occasion is now an informal doubleheader, separate tickets will be required.
Sky Blue always expected a large crowd for its final home match of the season against the visiting Pride, which features United States women’s national team players Alex Morgan, Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger.
The match marks the second time this season Sky Blue FC will play at the Harrison, N.J., stadium due to high demand for tickets. Sky Blue also played last month’s 1-1 draw against Reign FC at Red Bull Arena, and broke its attendance record with a crowd of 9,415.
“The atmosphere was electric,” LaHue said of that match in a statement issued by the club. “It’s an incredible setting and, with high demand for our home finale, we felt this was the right occasion to return.”
