The Orlando Pride’s first preseason opponent of 2019 will be the North Carolina Courage, the defending NWSL champions.
The two teams will face each other at 1 p.m. on March 23 in North Carolina. Their match will be the first of the day at WakeMed Soccer Park — USL Championship side North Carolina FC will play Liga MX side Necaxa later in the day.
Tickets for the match are available here.
It’ll be the first test for new Pride head coach Marc Skinner, who was named the team’s head coach on Jan. 14. He’s the second head coach in Pride history after after the club and Tom Sermanni parted ways at the end of last season.
The Pride played the Courage three times last season and lost all three games. North Carolina defeated the Portland Thorns 3-0 in the NWSL title game after going 17-1-6 (57 points) in the regular season. Orlando finished last season 8-10-6 (30 points) and missed the playoffs.
NWSL preseason training begins March 4. The rest of the Pride’s preseason schedule will be announced “at a later date,” according to the club.
