The NWSL has suspended training for all clubs through March 22 as the league continues to react to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The league issued the mandate on Sunday afternoon, with the added expectation that players should not travel and should remain in their respective markets during the training suspension.

The league had issued an initial two-day training suspension on Friday, calling for a short-term pause in practices through the weekend to give the league officials time to review training protocols and determine how to safely conduct workouts.

The NWSL initially canceled all preseason matches on Thursday, following the lead of most professional sports leagues in America, including MLS and the USL. At this time, the league has yet to to announce any changes to its schedule of season openers, with teams currently set to start the season on April 18.
