Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe continued the U.S. women’s national team’s epic post-World Cup victory celebration with an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday.
The USWNT co-captains and their teammates previously were honored during a Ticker Tape parade in New York City, won an ESPY award and attended various parties. Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris’ Instagram stories provided a look at the rowdy celebration spanning multiple days and two continents. It was on par with most NHL and NBA team championship celebrations and prompted Kimmel to ask whether it was tougher to win the World Cup or celebrate it.
“I’m going to go after,” Rapinoe said. “The rigors that we’re putting our bodies through is not good right now.”
Kimmel noted Rapinoe had sparred with Trump and made clear she didn’t plan to go to the White House, if invited. Morgan also told Time magazine before the World Cup she would not go to the White House. She told the magazine she was especially upset by his immigration policies, noting her husband has family living in Mexico.
Kimmel said they missed out on President Trump’s traditional White House feast for champions and offered to make up for it by presenting them with a pile of 500 chicken nuggets.
