The Houston Dash set a franchise single-game scoring record ruing a 6-1 victory over winless Sky Blue FC Saturday at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Dash (9-9-5, 32 points) delivered five second-half goals, with six different players scoring during the match.
Midfielder Sofia Huerta earned player of the game honors after scoring a goal, earning an assist and drawing a penalty that led to another score.
Linda Motlhalo opened the scoring for Houston in the 22nd minute when she put away a rebound of a deflected shot by Rachel Daly.
In the 48th minute, Huerta fired a cross to Veronica Latsko, who headed the ball home.
Sky Blue FC (0-16-5, 5 points) countered in the 54th minute when Imani Dorsey won a ball in the box and put it away.
In the 65th minute, Kealia Ohai helped Houston pull away. She crossed the ball to Huerta near the far far post and end line. Huerta served up an arching shot that tucked just under the crossbar to put the Dash up 3-1.
Huerta earned a penalty kick two minutes later and Daly converted, pushing Houston ahead 4-1.
Haley Hanson tapped in a goal off a corner kick in the 88th minute and Thembi Kgatlana scored on a counter in the 91st minute.
