An emphatic 9-0 win Thursday night against Cuba sent Jamaica through to Sunday’s Concacaf Women’s Championship semifinals. Jamaica likely will finish second in Group B to Canada, which led Costa Rica 2-0 in the second half of the final group play match at the time of this report, to advance.
Jody Brown scored a hat trick with goals in the 26th, 38th and 72nd minutes, and Sashana Campbell had a brace. Khadija Brown quickly began the goal-scoring frenzy, putting Jamaica up 1-0 in the 2nd minute of play. Deneisha Blackwood and Marlo Sweatman also scored. Jamaica outshot Cuba 22-7.
