The Washington Spirit versus Chicago Red Stars game has been delayed until 9 p.m due to lightning near the Maryland SoccerPlex shortly after the national anthem.
The match was originally scheduled to be the Lifetime Game of the Week, with the pregame show starting at 3:30 p.m. and kickoff shortly before 4 p.m.
The Spirit offered fans in the area free tickets with the hopes of drawing a crowd back to the stadium. The club also will honor tickets for the originally scheduled match.
