Real Salt Lake announced two more international call ups on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Midfielder Albert Rusnák will join Slovakia as the squad prepares for two matches in UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying. First, Slovakia will face Croatia in Slovakia on Sept. 6, then go on the road against Hungary on Sept. 9. Stateside, forward Corey Baird got a call from the U.S. Men’s National Team ahead of a Friday match against Mexico.

Rusnák debuted with Slovakia in 2016 and has five goals in 20 caps. His most-recent international goal was in a 2-0 win over Hungary in the first match of UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying on March 21.

“We are proud of Albert and excited for this opportunity for him to play in some very important matches for Slovakia,” RSL General Manager Craig Waibel said. “He remains a prominent contributor for Slovakia and a key piece to the puzzle for Real Salt Lake and we are happy for him to have earned that opportunity.”

Baird’s previous four gamelogs for Real Salt Lake include three of his four goals during the MLS regular season. The 22-year-old scored twice against Sporting KC on Aug. 10

Baird’s call up is his third to the senior team. The reigning AT&T Rookie of the Year and Real Salt Lake Academy product has three total caps for the U.S. He appeared for the U.S. U-17, U-18, U-20 and U-23 National Teams and prior to signing with Real Salt Lake.

“Corey has had a good year and has been rewarded with goals in the last few weeks, so it’s good to see that he’s still in the conversation with the U.S. National Team,” Waibel said.  “It’s such a great opportunity for him to continue to develop and get some deserved attention.”

“Along the lines of progress, the starting point for the roster is we’re able to maintain a core group of main players from the Gold Cup and continue building,” USMT manager Greg Berhalter said. “We are also bringing some new players into the fold that we feel have the potential to make an impact with this team.”

Both Baird and Rusnák will be available Saturday against the Portland Timbers. Real Salt Lake stands at second in the Western Conference standings at 13-10-4 (43 points). The club also announced Jefferson Savarino was called up to the Venezuelan National Team on Tuesday.
