Mexico’s Santos Laguna bullied C.D. Marathón from Honduras in the first leg of their 2019 Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 series.
Santos’ Javier Correa scored a hat-trick in the first half to give his team a sizeable lead on its way to a 6-2 victory Wednesday night at Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Correa scored in minutes 20, 32 and 38. In the second half, Matheus Doria made it 4-0 for Santos with a rebound shot in the 48th minute.
A minute later, Marathón finally got on the board with a Marlon Ramirez goal. Yustin Arboleda scored the Hondurans’ second goal in minute 69, but not before Marlos Moreno and Julio Cesar Furch tacked on the final two goals for Santos in the 61st and 69th minutes.
