Laurent Ciman became a hero in the dying seconds of stoppage time Sunday night, scoring on a free kick to deliver a victory to expansion side Los Angeles FC in its home debut at Banc of California Stadium.
LAFC (5-2-0, 15 points) finished with a 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders (1-4-1, 1 points) and now sits in second place in the Western Conference.
Fans packed the brand-new stadium in Los Angeles to cheer on their home team, and the announced sellout crowd of 22,000 went wild when Ciman’s kick curled over the wall of players, slammed into Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei’s hands and skidded backward into the net.
