Atlanta United beat the L.A. Galaxy 2-0 Saturday night at Stubhub Center in Carson, Calif. Josef Martínez scored in the 22nd minute to put the Five Stripes up 1-0. As the game wore on, the Galaxy grew increasingly dangerous on the attack and pushed for an equalizer in the final minutes. Zlatan Ibrahimović was in position to even the score on multiple occasions, but either an incoming pass wasn’t quite right or Atlanta’s defenders descended on the superstar to prevent an open look. Ibrahimović looked stunned when he went down in the box after contact with a defender near the end of the match and received no penalty call. Atlanta got one, though, and Miguel Almirón converted to ice the game in the 94th minute of stoppage time.
