The Philadelphia Union are in discussions with Mexico international Marco Fabian, sporting director Ernst Tanner confirmed Wednesday.
Before introducing new signing Kai Wagner, Tanner addressed Tuesday’s report from ESPN’s Taylor Twellman that stated the club is in final negotiations with the 29-year-old midfielder.
“It is true, the rumor about Marco Fabian that we are in touch with him and in negotiations, but we can’t say more at the moment,” Tanner said. “We will come out when we have more news with that.”
When head coach Jim Curtin was asked about the Fabian report, he decided to not comment further on the matter.
“Taylor Twellman is good at his job,” Curtin said. “He’s kind of the Adam Schefter of our league. I’ll leave it at that. I’ll leave that where it is and see what happens in the coming days.”
The Union have one more game left in their first preseason stint in Clearwater, Fla., as they take on United Soccer League expansion side Birmingham Legion on Wednesday.
The club returns home for a few days off on Thursday before making a second venture down to the Florida to conclude preseason training.
