CHESTER, Pa. — The Philadelphia Union are keeping Bimbo as a jersey sponsor, but there will be something different about the four-year contract extension the two parties are entering.
As part of the new deal announced by the club Wednesday, a variety of Bimbo brands will be displayed on the home and away kits for the 2020 season.
“Bimbo has been a part of the Philadelphia Union history since the partnership first began in 2011,” Union chief business officer Tim McDermott said. “We’re proud to continue the partnership with Bimbo and their robust portfolio of brands, including household names such as Entenmann’s, Sara Lee, Thomas’, Little Bites and Artesano.
“With this multi-year deal, we’ve taken the foundation of the first agreement and built on it in a way that is progressive, not only for our club, but MLS as a whole.”
At the back end of the 2019 Major League Soccer season, the Union used the Artesano brand on one of their warmups, and it was met with a warm reception from fans.
That is what the club hopes for by adding more brand flexibility as part of the new contract with Bimbo.
