Orlando City officials confirmed Monday the club will not appeal a red card given to midfielder Victor “PC” Giro in the 41st minute of the Lions’ 1-1 draw against D.C. United.
PC was sent off for “violent conduct,” according to officials. He battled D.C. United’s Yamil Asad for a ball and his arm made contact with Asad’s head.
PC was initially shown a yellow card, but then was given a red after Video Assistant Referee review. It was the second instance of a VAR review going against Orlando City.
“A really odd situation where I think my player is fouled first,” Kreis said after the match. “I think [PC] is pushed from the back going up on an aerial challenge. Once he gets pushed from the back he’s just trying to get his balance back and sure, an arm was flailing and it hit the opponent’s head.
“But again, an interesting decision because the referee deliberates over it for a while, shows a yellow card, and then we’ve got to deliberate some more to look at video review.”
The decision not to appeal the red card means PC will miss Orlando City’s Saturday match with Minnesota United. The game is at 7:30 p.m. at Orlando City Stadium.
