Orlando City has acquired FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele in exchange for $100,000 of Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) in 2019 and $50,000 of General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2020.
Akindele is a reinforcement in the attack for Orlando City after the team struggled to generate goals outside of star striker Dom Dwyer. Akindele, a Calgary, Alberta, native, was the sixth overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft and earned MLS Rookie of the Year honors after scoring seven goals to go with three assists in his debut season.
Akindele, 26, scored two goals in 19 MLS appearances (five starts) for FC Dallas last season. He has 24 league goals since entering MLS in 2014.
The possibility of the trade was first reported by The Athletic.
