The offseason roster moves continue for Orlando City.
The club on Wednesday announced another trade. This time, versatile midfielder Tony Rocha was sent to New York City FC in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2019 SuperDraft.
Rocha played in 12 matches (nine starts) for Orlando City in 2018, mostly as a fill-in for injured players. He could be seen all over the pitch — he played left back, centerback, and in various places in the midfield. He played a career-high 819 minutes this season and contributed three assists, another career high.
Orlando City in November declined to exercise Rocha’s option, but players whose options were declined by the club are still under contract through the end of 2018. Orlando City has made a host of moves since the official end of the 2018 season after the MLS Cup, and has acquired a stockpile of draft picks so far.
Orlando City currently owns the No. 3, No. 27, No. 59, No. 75, No. 94 and No. 96 picks in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, which will be held in Chicago on Jan. 11.
