Sanford, Fla. — Orlando City centerback Lamine Sané injured his calf during training and is “week to week,” according to a club source.
He was not in Orlando City’s matchday 18 for the Lions’ season opener against New York City FC on Saturday. He hasn’t been at training recently, either. He was not present for the media portion of Tuesday’s training session.
This is another injury setback for Sané, who missed more than half of last season with knee and quad problems. Orlando City signed Sané from Bundesliga side Werder Bremen ahead of the 2018 season. He played in 16 games (15 starts) for Orlando City last season.
Sané also played in Orlando City’s 6-2 preseason victory over the New England Revolution during the Orlando City Invitational Feb. 20.
The Lions (0-0-1, 1 point) next play the Chicago Fire (0-1-0, 0 points) on the the road at 1 p.m. ET Saturday.
