Orlando City acquired three new players to bolster a variety of position groups through the second round of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft — midfielder Joey DeZart, defender Jonathan Dean and goalkeeper Austin Aviza.

The Lions selected DeZart first with the 31st overall pick. The midfielder played four years at Wake Forest, scoring two goals and adding four assists during his career. DeZart is an addition to a midfield that Orlando City has been rebuilding throughout the offseason, joining Andrés Parea and David Loera as the newest additions to the position group.

Orlando City then selected Dean with the 39th overall pick, keeping the UCF alumnus close to home. Dean started his career at Wofford College before transferring to UCF as a sophomore. He served as a captain for a Knights team that made it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, adding six assists on the season.

The Lions finished off the second round of the SuperDraft by selecting Aviza with the 44th overall pick. Aviza spent two years at the University of Connecticut before transferring to Providence, where he notched 56 saves in his senior season.
