ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando City does not expect Tropical Depression Imelda flooding to alter its Houston travel plans ahead of a Saturday road match against the Dynamo, according to a club official. The Lions are slated to fly to Houston Friday afternoon.
More than 650 flights were canceled or delayed as Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport shut down due to flooding and storms on Thursday. The Houston Hobby airport also briefly closed Thursday, but it re-opened once roads in the area were deemed passable.
Bush airport posted on Twitter Thursday the FAA expected to re-open the airport by Friday afternoon.
No arriving flights into Houston today, only few departing flights. Flight operations are estimated to resume tomorrow afternoon per the FAA. Will update if that changes to an earlier time. Check w/ airline on flight status. Roadways approaching IAH are clear at this time. pic.twitter.com/FDXH4JnhQl
