“We believe sending Carlos out on loan is the best option for the player and the club,” Red Bulls sporting director Denis Hamlett said. “The most important thing for Carlos and his continued development is to play consistently and we are glad to have found a good situation for him and his family.”
As first reported by Pro Soccer USA on Friday, the 24-year-old flew to Medellin to take a physical on Friday.
He scored two goals in just five appearances this season, most recently coming off the bench for the final seven minutes of a 0-0 draw with the Philadelphia Union on May 26.
Rivas also appeared in four Concacaf Champions League matches and started and played 90 minutes in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 loss against Philadelphia.
