Pro Soccer USA co-founder and editor Alicia DelGallo serves up some history lessons from the World Cup in France plus a Father’s Day tribute. Also, Ben Palmer from The Times in Scotland provides a detailed scouting report on New York City FC’s latest signee, Gary Mackay-Steven.
“In terms of what they’re capable of, I think they are on a similar level,” Palmer said while comparing Mackay-Steven with former teammate at Dundee United and current Sporting KC star Johnny Russell.
“He was shot in the shoulder and the back and he said he still has some shrapnel in his shoulder. He said that removing it would have caused too much damage. For 75 years he’s had that shrapnel in his shoulder,” said DelGallo, who described USWNT family members’ visit with 99-year old WWII survivor Steve Melnikoff during the World Cup.
