On Frame: Brad Stuver anticipates a rare start in goal for NYCFC

And the Kicking and Screening Film Festival kicks off this week in New York City.

NEW YORK — New York City FC has a Thursday night matchup with FC Cincinnati at Yankee Stadium, and City’s back-up goalkeeper Brad Stuver is expected to make a rare start for the Pigeons.

“I started fourth-string my first year, and I’ve worked my way up to two,” Stuver says. “Now with Sean [Johnson] getting called into the [United States men’s] national team, there’s some games that are available to play, so you just have to stay patient and stay ready.”

The Kicking and Screening Film Festival features a Thursday night film, Coach — the story of University of California, Davis women’s coach Tracy Hamm and her journey to obtain a license in Europe when U.S. Soccer would not comply with her request.

“I felt if U.S. Soccer, my own country, is not going to let me in for my professional experience, I don’t know why a European country would — but I applied and they accepted me,” Tracy Hamm says on becoming the second American woman to earn a UEFA “A” License.
