New England Revolution II made their 10th overall acquisition by signing Portuguese midfielder Tiago Mendonca on Tuesday.
Mendonca, 24, will be added to the club’s roster once the U.S. Soccer Federation and USL League One approve the transaction.
Mendonca red-shirted his senior season with Providence College last year, but previously captained the Friars and led them through two NCAA Division I tournament runs, totaling 11 goals and four assists in 69 appearances over his collegiate career.
Prior to enrolling at Providence College, Mendonca spent 10 years in S.C. Farense’s academy, which is located in his hometown of Faro, Portugal.
Revolution II starts its inaugural season in USL League One against Orlando City SC B at Gillette Stadium on March 28.
Mendonca joins a midfield corps that includes Mayele Malango, Lucas Felix,and Ryan Spaulding.
