Nashville SC has signed Honduran international defender Brayan Beckeles, the club announced Wednesday. The 34-year-old World Cup veteran arrives from Club Olimpia and will not occupy an international spot because he already has a green card.
“Brayan has been a standout at the domestic and international levels,” Nashville SC general manager Mike Jacobs said in a statement. “His ability to defend at a high level in Liga MX, as well as throughout Concacaf representing Honduras, makes him someone who would slot in nicely into our back line.”
Beckeles, who can play as a right back or a centerback, has also competed for Club Necaxa in Liga MX and Boavista Porto FC in Portugal. He’s also made 65 appearances internationally for Honduras, including all three matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Most recently, Beckeles represented Los Catrachos at the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Beckeles began his professional career with his hometown club C.D.S. Vida in 2006. He went on to wear the captain’s armband before his first stint with Olimpia in 2011.
