Moving forward, Zlatan sets realistic expectations

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is starting the process of settling in with his new team in Los Angeles. He gained international attention for his first twenty minutes on the field with the Galaxy, but he’s hoping that fans aren’t expecting those kind of games week in and week out.

“Expect scoring goals like this every game? No. I can already kill the buzz,” Ibrahimovic said after the club’s Friday morning practice. “Every week will not be like this. Play good. Prepare good. Win the games and that’s the way it works. I hope we can control the game better, and play under control. Don’t expect crazy things every game. I’ll try, but it’s not often it goes in.”

In reality, Ibrahimovic still has plenty of work to do before getting too comfortable in Los Angeles. He is acclimating to a new coaching system and teammates while adjusting to an eight hour time difference from where he was living only last week.

“The most important thing is on the field, and off the field I do what I need to do,” Ibrahimovic commented. “Focus on the right things and prepare in the best way. I still feel some jet lag, but day by day I’m coming in.”

The LA Galaxy will host Sporting Kansas City on April 8th at 6pm PST at the Stubhub Center in Carson, CA.

Video of Zlatan’s entire interview is below, including this signature one liner:

Reporter: “You wasted almost no time in getting the city’s attention. Are you surprised at how quickly that happened?”

Ibrahimovic: “That I do my job good? No… no. no.”
