First, there was the player combine in Orlando. Then the SuperDraft in Philadelphia. Now, Major League Soccer is off to Los Angeles for its annual media day.
About 30 top players from across the league will gather for a day full of interviews with local and national media outlets.
Some of the players expected to attend include 2017 MLS MVP Diego Valeri of Portland, Newcomer of the Year Miguel Almirón (Atlanta United), Golden Boot winner Nemanja Nikolić (Chicago Fire), U.S. men’s national team goalkeeper Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids) and 2017 assists leader Sacha Kljestan (Orlando City).
Media day caps a long week of events leading to the start of preseason camp for MLS teams.
The MLS Player Combine was held in Orlando from Jan.11-17. The event allowed top collegiate athletes to show off in front of coaches before the draft.
The first two rounds of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft took place Friday morning at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Expansion side Los Angeles FC took former Akron defender Joao Moutinho No. 1 overall. Check out a recap of the first two SuperDraft rounds here.
Following media day, the final two rounds of the draft will be held Sunday via conference call and then players report to preseason training on Monday.
