Atlético Madrid’s Hector Herrera and João Felix will compete in the Major League Soccer All-Star Skills Challenge July 30.
The duo will join teammate Koke to take on MLS All-Stars Wayne Rooney, Carlos Vela and Jonathan Dos Santos. Orlando City’s Nani, Chris Mueller and Sebastian Mendez will also participate in the challenge.
The skills challenge is part of MLS All-Star Week in Orlando, which culminates when the MLS All-Stars take on Atlético Madrid July 31 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando.
The event involves three skills: shooting, touch and volley and passing.
The shooting challenge will have players trying to hit targets. Points will be given based on the degree of difficulty. The touch and volley event will see players receive crosses as they try to hit the back of the net. And the passing challenge will have players hit as many moving and static targets as possible in a two-minute span.
The additions of Felix and Herrera boosts an already packed All-Star weekend.
Felix, 19, joined Atlético Madrid for a reported €126 million ($141.47 million) transfer fee from Benfica, making him the fifth-most expensive player in the world. Felix scored 15 goals last season for the reigning champion of Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
Herrera joined the Spanish giant after six seasons at FC Porto, where he helped the club win the Primeira Liga title in 2017-18. The Mexican international has played in two World Cups and in 41 Champions League matches.
