LAFC’s Carlos Vela dazzled Major League Soccer fans again.

Wednesday night at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, the 30-year-old Mexican forward combined brilliance with filthiness and trickery, dribbling his way to his second goal of the night and a 3-0 lead against the visiting San Jose Earthquakes. LAFC eventually won the match 4-0.

The Vela sequence began in the 41st minute, when he pulled off a dummy move, letting a pass roll under his left foot, allowing teammate Diego Rossi to run into it. Vela then sprinted toward the box as Rossi fed the ball back to him. Vela then avoided a sliding challenge, dribbled around one defender, forced San Jose goalkeeper Daniel Vega to fall over, and then dodged another tackle before placing the ball into an open net.

Fox Sports’ Stu Holden called the goal, “filth of the highest order,” while LAFC play-by-play announcer Max Bretos demanded that the highlight be No. 1 on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Vela’s first goal came when he connected on a penalty kick in the 17th minute — his league-leading 26th goal of the year. Rossi scored the first goal in the 6th minute and Joshua Perez capped the scoring in minute 81.

And here’s a look at Vela’s penalty kick from earlier in the match.
