Adama Diomande navigated around defenders and whipped a shot into the top left corner of the net to hand victory to Los Angeles FC in the final second of its 2019 Major League Soccer season opener Sunday night against Sporting Kansas City.
SKC was playing with 10 men after Roger Espinoza earned his second yellow card and was ejected from the match in the 84th minute. The reigning Western Conference champs led early after Krisztián Németh scored in the 16th minute. LAFC’s Diego Rossi equalized in minute 47. Just as it seemed each team would leave with a point, Diomande struck in the 94th minute, LAFC took a 2-1 lead, SKC players fell to their knees and Diomande ran into fans’ and teammates’ arms to celebrate. The final whistle blew moments later. Watch a replay of his goal below. See full match stats here. Here is an early recap. Check back later for a full recap, highlights and pictures.
