Banc of California Stadium will host a pair of group stage matches for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, ushering in the first international tournament for the new LAFC stadium.
CONCACAF announced the lineup of host stadiums for the 2019 Gold Cup on Tuesday, with LAFC earning two of the Group C games. The two games will take place on Tuesday, June 25. For LAFC, this selection is a reflection of a goal that remained strong since the ribbon-cutting of construction on Banc of California Stadium — becoming an international destination for soccer.
The double-header will take place on the third day of game play for the Gold Cup tournament, which is celebrating its 15th year of competition. Honduras is the only nation already seeded into Group C, but three other teams from the CONCACAF will join it after the conclusion of the CONCACAF Nations League Qualifying tournament.
Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad and the United States national teams have already qualified for the Gold Cup following the 2018 FIFA World Cup Hexagonal qualifier, but that still leaves 10 places open for the other members of CONCACAF to secure for next year.
Tickets for the Gold Cup will go on sale on Oct. 23 at 10 a.m., but fans can also access a pre-sale offers on the confederation website now. The tournament will also be broadcast on Univision and FOX, and on the radio on the Fútbol de Primera Radio Network.
