Los Angeles FC announced it has exercised the contract option for 22-year-old midfielder Latif Blessing, securing his contract through the 2020 season. He has found success so far this year for LAFC by adapting to different roles in the midfield, allowing head coach Bob Bradley a versatile option in both the wings and central midfield roles.
“Latif has proven to be a great fit for us on and off the field,” LAFC General Manager & EVP of Soccer Operations John Thorrington said in the news club’s release. “He is an exciting young player who continues to improve, and we look forward to his continued contributions in the coming seasons.”
Blessing has made an appearance during each of LAFC’s 16 matches so far this season, with two goals and five assists in his 1,288 minutes played this year. He initially joined LAFC during the 2017 expansion draft, during which he was acquired from Sporting Kansas City.
