Bradley Wright-Phillips signs with LAFC

Bradley Wright-Phillips is joining LAFC after a seven-year stint with the New York Red Bulls.

Los Angeles FC has brought in one of the best scorers in Major League Soccer history.

Bradley Wright-Phillips, who scored 108 regular-season goals over seven seasons, inked a deal with the reigning Supporters’ Shield holder Friday.

“Bradley is one of the most prolific goalscorers in MLS history and the type of player that can be a difference-maker for us,” LAFC executive vice president and general manager John Thorrington said in a club statement. “He brings invaluable experience to the group as a proven winner in our league, and we look forward to welcoming him and his family to the Club.”

The striker announced the deal on his Twitter page Saturday, but it was not made official until Friday afternoon.

“Let’s do this, LAFC,” Wright-Phillips said in the tweet.

Wright-Phillips appeared in 195 regular-season contests during his stint with the Red Bulls and made 20 postseason appearances in that span.

The 34-year-old joins Latif Blessing, Adama Diomande, Danny Musovski, Adrien Perez, Brian Rodriguez, Diego Rossi and Carlos Vela as forwards on the LAFC roster.
