The MLS Disciplinary Committee suspended LA Galaxy midfielder Efrain Alvarez an additional game and issued a fine due to violent conduct in the 84th minute of the Galaxy’s July 27 loss to the Portland Timbers.
Alvarez also was given another fine for failure to leave the field in a timely manner following his ejection from the match. The official gave Alvarez a red card, which carries an automatic one-game suspension, after he kicked the ball at Timbers forward Marvin Loría, who was falling to the ground. The ball hit Loría in the head on the way down.
Alvarez already served one suspension Saturday, missing the Galaxy’s 3-0 loss in Atlanta. He will now miss the Galaxy’s upcoming road match Sunday against D.C. United.
