LOS ANGELES — The LA Galaxy have partnered with On The Ball, a Scotland-based grassroots campaign, to offer free feminine hygiene products in all Dignity Health Sports Park restrooms during LA Galaxy home games.
“The LA Galaxy and Dignity Health Sports Park are committed to providing the best experience for the hundreds of thousands of fans that come through our gates each year,” Dignity Health Sports Park general manager Katie Pandolfo said in a statement released Wednesday by the Galaxy. “We’re always looking to innovate our fan experience and this landmark partnership is testament to that.”
The Galaxy are the first club in professional sports to have a deal with On The Ball, which has partnerships with 66 clubs in the United Kingdom.
“We are delighted that LA Galaxy are pledging their support for female soccer fans with the On The Ball campaign,” said On The Ball co-founder Mikaela McKinley in the press release. “Making period products readily available and free of charge in soccer stadiums is a real trailblazer move and we hope other clubs in the US will now follow suit. We have 66 football clubs across the UK involved in our campaign but having worldwide support is vital and we can’t thank those at LA Galaxy enough for taking this forward thinking step for their fans.”
The Galaxy will open their 2019 MLS regular season campaign on March 2 against the Chicago Fire at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.
We are thrilled to have LA Galaxy lead by example as our first US team to provide free period products.
