The LA Galaxy have signed MLS veteran defender Sheanon Williams and have released midfielder Emrah Klimenta, according to a news release from the club. The team has been struggling to find a replacement for the injured right back, Rolf Feltscher, so Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid hopes that this signing will help fill that need.
Williams has 192 appearances in MLS with the Philadelphia Union, Houston Dynamo, and, most recently, the Vancouver Whitecaps.
“Sheanon is a player that adds valuable MLS experience to our backline at a position of need,” Schmid said in the club’s news release. “We believe he will bolster our right back position and we are excited to add him to our roster.”
Also announced in the release, defender Emrah Klimenta was released by the club. He joined the LA Galaxy in 2018 from the Sacramento Republic and has filled in for the Galaxy during two starts this season.
