The LA Galaxy’s newest signing, Cristian Pavón, made his MLS debut Sunday evening in the Galaxy’s 2-1 loss to D.C. United. Although the scoreline did not go in the Galaxy’s favor, there were signs of promise in Pavón’s debut and his ability to connect with his new teammates on the field.
“I think he was the best man on the field,” said teammate Zlatan Ibrahimović. “First game, he showed his abilities and did a very good game. It’s unlucky that we didn’t win, so I will give him credit for it.”
Pavón played the entire 90 minutes and registered two shots in his time on the field. There were several strings of connecting passes with teammates on the offensive end during the match, a sign of things to come once he has more time to build chemistry with the other Galaxy players. His performance also caught the eye of D.C. United coach Ben Olsen.
“Pavón is going to do just fine in this league if that game is any indication” Olsen said. “The game seems pretty easy to him and he will be a nice piece.”
Pavón will have several opportunities to build that team chemistry in the upcoming days, as the Galaxy have two more MLS matches within the next six days: hosting FC Dallas Wednesday and then the Seattle Sounders Saturday.
