FC Cincinnati continued to bolster its back line on Tuesday by signing Swedish center back Tom Petterson, the club announced.

The 29-year-old was previously the captain for Swedish club Ostersunds FK and he joins the club on a free transfer at the end of his expiring deal in Europe.

“Tom is an experienced left-footed center back that we are pleased to add to our roster,” FC Cincinnati general manager Gerard Nijkamp said in a statement. “His strength in building possession out from the back will be an asset to our style of play. We are happy to welcome Tom to Cincinnati as we continue to build our 2020 roster and prepare for the upcoming season.”

With the addition of Petterson, the second-year side now has six central defenders under contract, including Kendall Waston and Nick Hagglund.

In total, FC Cincinnati has 11 defenders on its 30-player roster.
