The LA Galaxy traded defender Dave Romney to expansion side Nashville SC in exchange for $225,000 of General Allocation Money. The Galaxy are also set to receive an additional $50,000 GAM if Romney meets certain performance criteria with Nashville.

“We will look to improve our roster ahead of the 2020 MLS campaign and acquiring Allocation Money give us flexibility as we enter an important period,” LA Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese said in a statement release by the club. “We want to thank Dave for all of his contributions to our club. We wish him the best of luck with Nashville.”

The imminent trade was first reported by The Athletic last week and announced by the club Tuesday.

Romney was the first Galaxy player to sign from USL side LA Galaxy II, joining the first team Aug. 5, 2015. During his time with the Galaxy, he made 69 starts in 84 regular-season appearances and started one playoff game this year.
