COLUMBUS, Ohio — Every MLS Expansion draft in which Columbus Crew SC has participated, the club has lost a player.
That trend continued when Inter Miami chose midfielder Luis Argudo with its fourth pick of Tuesday’s 2019 expansion draft.
Columbus receives $50,000 in General Allocation Money as compensation for the pick. If past MLS practices continue, they also will not be required to participate in the next expansion draft.
Argudo is a versatile offensive player capable of playing multiple positions. A third-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Argudo only played 630 minutes. He began to develop further under Caleb Porter, playing more than 1,000 minutes in 21 games, scoring one goal and three assists.
