CINCINNATI — FC Cincinnati announced the signing of Moroccan midfielder Adrien Regattin on a free transfer Wednesday.
Regattin, 28, most recently featured for Turkish outfit Akhisarspor and has been without a club since the end of the 2018/19 Turkish season. He will occupy an international roster spot and will join FCC for preseason preparations upon the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa.
In 10 professional seasons in France and Turkey, the midfielder has made 279 career appearances, including 163 starts, scoring 25 goals and adding 27 assists.
“We are happy to add a versatile attack-minded player in Adrien to our current group,” FC Cincinnati general manager Gerard Nijkamp said in a statement. “We look forward to getting him acclimated with the club and city ahead of our second MLS season.”
The Moroccan’s arrival is the second arrival in Cincinnati this week after the announced capture of Dutch forward Jürgen Locadia as a designated player on Monday. The pair will join fellow offseason arrivals Yuya Kubo and Brandon Vazquez in a retooled strike force. Regattin normally operates as a right-sided winger, though he has the capability of playing across the midfield.
FC Cincinnati resumes preparations for the 2020 season today when the club takes on the USL Championship’s El Paso Locomotive at the Kino Sports Complex in Tuscon, Arizona. FCC is 1-1-0 during preseason play following a 3-0 win over the USL’s Phoenix Rising and a 0-4 loss to Sporting Kansas City.
Cincy will open regular season play on Sunday, March 1, when the team travels to Harrison, N.J., for a match against the New York Red Bulls.
