Chicago Fire FC signed winger Ignacio Aliseda as a young designated player Wednesday after purchasing him for an undisclosed transfer fee from Defensa y Justicia of the Argentine Primera Division.
Aliseda, who turns 20 in March and was born in Argentina, is under contract with Chicago through 2023, though the Fire didn’t release any information on the player’s salary.
Though Aliseda can play as a striker, he predominantly has been used as a left winger.
He made 35 appearances for Defensa y Justicia in all competitions from 2018-19, scoring three goals, and has represented the U-23 Argentina men’s national team twice. Aliseda had one goal and two assists in 11 SuperLiga matches this seaon.
“Ignacio is already such an impressive player despite being only 19-years-old,” Chicago head coach Raphael Wicky said in a prepared statement. “He is very quick and technically gifted and has a great mentality. We’re very excited to add Ignacio to our roster and we expect him to be a key contributor for us moving forward.”
