Atlanta United’s No. 1 goalkeeper will be a member of the club until 2023.
The Five Stripes announced a contract extension for 35-year-old netminder Brad Guzan Monday that lasts through the 2023 campaign.
“Brad has been one of the top goalkeepers in MLS since joining our team in the summer of 2017 and we are pleased to have agreed to a long-term contract extension,” Atlanta United vice president and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a club statement. “Brad epitomizes the type of professional player we want at Atlanta United, and as a key member of the U.S. Men’s National Team, we hope to see him represent our club at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He’s thoroughly deserved this extension and we look forward to him anchoring our team for years to come.”
Since arriving in Atlanta in 2017, Guzan has started 81 regular-season matches and an additional nine postseason contests.
In his two stints in Major League Soccer with the now-defunct Chivas USA and Atlanta United, Guzan has made 160 regular-season appearances.
