Atlanta United FC acquired Argentinian midfielder Ezequiel Barco in the most expensive transfer in MLS history.
Barco, 18, arrives for a reported fee of $15 million, the highest in league history for a player transfer.
“Securing a player of Ezequiel’s caliber is another significant moment in Atlanta United history,” said club president Darren Eales in a statement released by the club.
“This transfer further demonstrates the commitment of our club to bring top level, dynamic young players to Atlanta and to MLS. We are excited to welcome Ezequiel to our club and our city.”
Barco joins from Argentinian side Independiente, where he made his debut in 2016, and won the 2017 Copa Sudamericana, along with making eight appearances for the Argentina under-20 national team.
